Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) has been arrested for a crime she didn’t even commit in Emmerdale, but viewers have spotted a major problem.

As fans of the ITV soap will know, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) was keeping a number of vulnerable people captive in the attic space of her farmhouse, which neighbours Butler’s Farm, belonging to Moira.

The forced labour workers, including Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), were forced to live in squalor while working long hours and surviving on little food. Elsewhere, Moira agreed to a business deal with Celia as they farmed turkeys, but she soon found out drug lord Celia had forged documents in her name.

As well as the contracts between the women, the police have now also found the identification documents that Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) stashed on her bookshelf.

He has been forced to commit the act by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who is blackmailing Robert’s sister, Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), into handing over her share of Butler’s.

If the siblings didn’t comply, he would expose the footage of her killing their brother John (Oliver Farnworth) in some woodland, which happened during the Coronation Street crossover.

On Wednesday (January 14), the police turned up at Moira’s farmhouse and found the stash of documents while conducting a search. She was subsequently arrested for human trafficking and forced labour, but the future doesn’t look great for the farmer.

DS Walsh didn’t believe Moira was not involved in Celia Daniels’ schemes (Image: )

Moira was in shock as she tried to plead her innocence to DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) at the police station, denying all involvement in Celia and Ray’s evil operation. But DS Walsh didn’t seem to believe a word that Moira said.

In a turn of events, DS Walsh thought that Moira had benefited from the money Celia was bringing in through her criminal schemes, at a troubling time for the farming industry and following a slurry leak on her land. Moira was left alone in the interview room, and she broke down in tears.

However, Emmerdale viewers think they have spotted a plot hole that will prove Moira’s innocence. As the police have taken the documents belonging to Celia, forensics should prove Moira has never touched them before.

Taking to X, one person asked: “So you’re not gonna run those documents for fingerprints??? #emmerdale”, while a second stated: “Evidence??… one envelope of documents with none of her fingerprints on?? #Emmerdale.”

A third chimed in: “Shouldn’t they check for fingerprints on those documents or Moira’s bank accounts to see if things add up, incompetent writers #Emmerdale.”

“Why haven’t they checked for fingerprints? It’s what they would normally do, isn’t it #emmerdale”, asked one fan.

“Why are they not checking for fingerprints on that envelope? Moira wouldn’t be on there #Emmerdale”, said another.
