On soaps, sometimes we get good recasts, and sometimes we get some not-so-good ones. However, Rachel Boyd has proven she has done the work as she brings Sophia Choi’s crazy to life on Days of Our Lives on Peacock. For her fearless portrayal of a woman on the brink, Boyd has been named our Performer of the Week for April 27–May 1, 2026.

Playing with Fire

Since being released from Bayview, Sophia has been a woman on a mission—one fueled by vengeance and a deep-seated belief that she’s been wronged by the citizens of Salem.

One of those people is Johny DiMera, so when Kristen approached her to team up and make Johnny pay, Sophia could not refuse.

However, the layers Boyd brought to these scenes were what really stood out. After reading a barrage of nasty online comments, we saw Sophia’s resolve begin to flicker.

She actually tried to back out, but Kristen would not let her. So, following instructions, almost to a T, Sophia went over to Johnny’s, where she pepper-sprayed him at the door and then set things on fire…literally.

Emotional Intensity

While the “crazy” is fun to watch, it was the emotional weight Boyd delivered in the aftermath that truly earned her this title. The scenes where Sophia penned a suicide note were raw, desperate, and haunting. Boyd gave these moments everything, capturing the spirit of a woman who feels her life has been upended beyond repair.

Rachel Boyd has proven she doesn’t miss a beat. She can pivot from calculated menace to heartbreaking vulnerability in a single frame, making her one of the most exciting “finds” in recent daytime history. Salem is definitely a lot hotter with her in it, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
