FBI season 8 episode 8 follows a possible assassination attempt as OA’s romantic life takes a turn
FBI followed the case of a Jordanian Prime Minister’s attempted assassination and how things got complicated when the assassin herself was killed soon after the shooting. However, not all was what it seemed, and soon Isobel had to take precautions in resolving a case that could have led to political consequences.
A journalist named Holly Chanwell was setting up with her cameraman Quinn Han as they prepared to watch the arrival of Mohammad Zoman, the Jordanian Prime Minister who came to the U.S. for a Summit. However, when Holly got the chance to speak with him personally, a gunshot sounded out, and she was shot.
At first, it appeared the assassination attempt was meant for Zoman. The team was able to find the sniper’s nest, but the assassin got away by dressing as a police officer. However, she was killed as soon as she got into her getaway vehicle. Unfortunately, Holly didn’t survive the shooting, and evidence of the shooter’s location led the FBI to believe Holly was the actual target while Zoman was used as a ruse.

To figure out what kind of story Holly and Quinn were working on, the team went to find him. Before Maggie and OA could get him to safety, two men started shooting and in the chaos, Quinn ran off before he was abducted.
Security footage helped them hone in on one of the suspects, who turned out to be a former member of the Chinese Liberation Army. They saw more footage of him at an ATM, having left a property management office.
Scola and Ramos went to investigate, but due to the suspicious nature of the receptionist, they began searching. They discovered a woman trapped and bleeding, learning later that when the receptionist pressed the panic button, the abductors had left with Quinn, who had already been tortured. It was clear they needed information on what Holly was working on, and Quinn must have hidden it. Otherwise, he would be dead.
The woman who was abducted told them that many of her friends who were Chinese dissidents had been trying to drum up pro-democracy support for China. However, her friends disappeared, and she thought they were rat lined back to Chinese work camps. There was a possibility that Quinn would be taken back to China this way, but they needed proof.
OA managed to find the evidence Quinn hid, photos taken that showed the Chinese attaché involved with the abductors. To handle this carefully, Isobel spoke with the Consulate, letting them know they likely had a rogue agent. Maggie then had the idea to pretend to provide her immunity in the US for information on Quinn’s whereabouts.
The team did find Quinn, along with the bodies of the missing dissidents. Due to the nature of the case, the Chinese consulate took the attaché into custody for her role in the case.
This was a compelling case that showed just how tenuous relations between countries can be. In addition to the case, we also saw the conclusion of OA’s relationship with his girlfriend, Gemma.
It was something that we could see possibly coming, especially since OA still had trouble opening up about the dangerous aspects of his job. This was stated in the episode when he admitted to Scola that he never told Gemma that he was poisoned earlier in the season.
However, before he could finally open up, Gemma admitted she had met someone else. While she claimed nothing physical happened, it was clear there was emotional intimacy present. OA was obviously hurt, and considering how much trouble he had opening up, this could have an impact on how he handles any relationships he attempts in the future.
The fall finale two-part episode will air on Monday, Dec. 15 at 8/7c before going on break until February 2026.
