General Hospital’s Rory Gibson on if Michael Shot Drew
Wondering if Michael Corinthos is guilty of shooting Drew Cain on General Hospital? The storyline took a tense turn when Drew pointed the finger at Michael after regaining consciousness. That moment pushed Michael to the top of the suspect list. As accusations mount and alliances shift, he scrambles to clear his name. At the same time, Michael fights to hold on to custody of his children.
Here’s what Rory Gibson had to say about Michael’s innocence and the desperate choices he’s making to survive.
Rory Gibson on if Michael is innocent of shooting Drew on General Hospital
Rory Gibson told Soap Opera Digest that Michael is “fighting for survival” after Drew accused him from his hospital bed. He noted, “Michael is panicked, honestly. How I try to play Michael is that at his core, he’s a relatively composed, stoic [person], but it’s all kind of a shell… In this moment, he’s panicked because everything’s unsettled.”
Michael became a prime suspect after Drew took two bullets on a stormy night. Gibson explained the shift in tone, saying, “It’s been a very interesting combination of, ‘Oh, I’m over here chatting with Molly and things are hunky-dory, fine and dandy.’”
He continued, “And then two episodes later, it’s like everything’s gone to hell!” Gibson added, “Drew aims more to incriminate Michael to restore his relationship with Willow. He cares less about finding the real shooter.”
Michael has gone so far as to pay escort Jacinda for an alibi, a move Gibson called “pure desperation.” He explained, “He knows Dante’s a smart guy, and I think he knows Dante’s not going to buy this, but he doesn’t really have much of a choice.” Gibson added that while Michael hopes Dante will believe him, “It’s about needing evidence to hold up.”
Other complications include Tracy potentially placing Michael at Drew’s house. Gibson admitted, “I think he’s feeling kind of conflicted… but at the end of the day, of course, it would be much better if no one knew Michael was there at all!”
For now, Gibson is clear: while the storyline points Michael toward guilt, he is rooting for his character’s innocence. He stated, “If he did that, then everything that Drew has told Willow about him becomes true — like, Michael really is just a monster.”
